For Immediate Release
Port Hawkesbury's Imagine2030 Project Releases Strategic Priorities and Community Conceptual Plan!
Open House June 15, 6-8pm, Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre
Port Hawkesbury, NS – Community growth is one step ahead in the Town of Port Hawkesbury with the release of a new Conceptual Plan and strategic development priorities for the Town. With consultation process that began in 2010, Imagine2030 has developed a set of ambitious and achievable goals to achieve community growth over the next 20 years. These goals are directly based on the feedback gathered from community and business consultations.
With a focus on Living Well, Working, Learning and Belonging, the Conceptual Plan and Strategic Priorities provide a common vision for the Town of Port Hawkesbury that builds on the values and assets of the community. The Plans outline several "high priority" activities that have the potential to dramatically change the Town. The following priorities have been identified as possible in the very near-term.
- Our Place to Live Well...Visit & Play
Pride of Place Campaign (Community Clean-Up & Branding)
- Our Place to Work & Grow
Business Park Streetscape & Signage Program (Facade & Streetscape Improvements)
- Our Place to Learn
Increase Communications & Partnerships with NSCC & Nautical Institute (Business Signage Welcoming & Congratulating Students)
- Our Place to Belong
Newcomer Attraction & Retention Strategy (Welcome Wagon!)
With high-quality visuals to show the public, the Imagine2030 partners are very pleased to announce that an Open House is being held on June 15th at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre (6-8pm). This event will be an opportunity to discuss the priorities that have emerged for the Town of Port Hawkesbury and to view LARGE scale productions of some of the Conceptual Plan Images. Copies of the Community Conceptual Plan and Strategic Priorities will also be available at this event.

Imagine2030 has enjoyed strong support from partners including the Strait-Highlands RDA, the Town of Port Hawkesbury, the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce, Eastern District Planning Commission, funding agencies, and other community members. At this stage, a Community Engagement Committee is being formed to ensure that the plans made are implemented in keeping with the common vision established. There will be future opportunities to participate, so contact Amanda or drop by the Open House to find out how you can get involved. Let's get started Growing Our Town, Together!
