Board Chairman, Almon Chisholm, Once Again Announces a Successful Year for Strait Area Transit
Port Hawkesbury, NS - According to Board Chairman Almon Chisholm, the Strait Area Transit Co-operative has once again wrapped up their fiscal year with a 43% increase in ridership in comparison to the previous year. “This is absolutely remarkable” proclaimed Chisholm who addressed the Board of Directors at last week’s annual meeting. Chisholm went on to say “The lack of safe and affordable transportation had always been a barrier for the residents of the area and it is quite clear that the community supports and values the system that has been put in place.”
Chisholm went on to commend the Board of Directors and General Manager, Malcolm Beaton and the support staff for all the hard work that has been done in making sure that the operation would meet the needs of the residents. “Going into the forth year of operation will continue to produce challenges, but with the right people in place we will be equipped to deal with whatever comes along.”
Chisholm also made a point of thanking the many partners who have contributed to the success of the operation including the Strait-Highlands Regional Development Agency, Strait Regional School Board, East Novability for Persons with Disabilities, 101.5 The Hawk, local Municipalities and their many other funding partners.
