Regional Development Agency
The Strait-Highlands Regional Development Agency (RDA) has been facilitating, assisting and promoting economic development for communities and businesses since 1994. Your Local RDA is the coordinating organization charged with leading economic development at the regional level under the authority of the Nova Scotia Regional Community Development Act.

Each year, the Strait-Highlands RDA selects strategic initiatives based on the relationship with the objectives and strategic direction of our various stakeholders; the incremental benefit to our region; the relationship to our RDA’s mandate; and the human and financial resource required to carry out the initiative.
The Strait-Highlands Regional Development Agency is mandated under Nova Scotia Economic Development and has six partners/shareholders:
- Municipality of Inverness County
- Town of Port Hawkesbury
- Municipality of Richmond
- Nova Scotia Economic and Rural Development
- Nova Scotia Department of Community Services
- Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation

Public Sector Compensation Disclosure
On December 10, 2010, the Government of Nova Scotia passed the Public Sector Compensation Disclosure (PSCD) Act. The purpose of the PSCD Act is to expand reporting about compensation paid to the public sector. As a not-for-profit, in receipt of government funding, the Strait-Highlands Regional Development Agency is legislated to report the names of any employees receiving $100,000 or more in annual compensation.
The Strait-Highlands RDA has not, nor will be making payment of $100,000 or more to any employee for the Fiscal Year 2011-2012.
