S-HRDA was pleased to support the 2009-2010 province-wide I-3 small business start-up competition which is designed to foster entrepreneurial spirit in the business community across Nova Scotia and to encourage the formation of new technology start-up companies.
Winners of the I-3 Competition were announced today (January 26, 2010) by InNOVAcorp. S-HRDA would like to extend congratulations to entrepreneurs Joe Menchefski (Sydney) and Bill Coady (Port Hawkesbury) on winning 2nd prize in Zone 5 (Cape Breton) - a prize package of cash and inkind contributions valued at $40,000! These entrepreneurs collaborated to form Billdidit Inc - a company focused on developing a product line of music industry accessories, including the innovative and patented Coady Clutch, the world's first passive hi-hat drop clutch that allows drummers to engage and disengage their hi-hat cymbals during live performances.
The I-3 competition is managed across the province by InNOVAcorp and includes $800,000 in prizes consisting of cash and in-kind contributions. Five zones were identified within the province, with each zone having a first and second place winner for prizes worth $100,000 and $40,000, respectively. An additional $100,000 in seed funding will be awarded in February to the best of the five 1st place zone winners. For a complete list of winners, please visit the InNOVAcorp website. |
